Minnesota priest leaves diocese for SSPX, bishop begins canonical process
US priest affiliates with FSSPX, canonical proceedings started. Rev. Philip Conklin, 38, a priest of St. Paul and Minneapolis, has affiliated with the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X (FSSPX), and his archbishop has initiated a canonical process against him. It will presumably see the priest declared excommunicated. Archbishop Bernard Hebda wrote on September 30 in the archdiocese’s newspaper: “After confirming with Father Conklin that he does not intend to cease this affiliation, I have felt compelled to commence a canonical process to clarify the situation and his status.” Rev. Conklin was ordained a priest by Archbishop Hebda relatively recently, on May 25, 2024. In March 2026, he went on a six-month leave of absence to discern his priestly vocation. There are some interesting biographical details. Before entering seminary, he trained as a pilot, served for six years in the U.S. Air Force as an air traffic controller, and subsequently worked as a civilian air traffic contractor at …More
It appears that any priest who is loyal to traditional Catholicism will face severe penalties. But liberal, heretical and immoral clerics will be advanced.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) spoke from the pulpit at a Catholic church this week, co-opting the authority of the Church to accuse conservatives of making Catholics “turn against … our trans brothers and sisters and neighbors and siblings.”

Peter Thiel has suggested Pope Leo XIV is a tool of the Antichrist. In his third attack on the pope, he called him a “useful idiot” for the Chinese Communists, adding: “If you’re evil, you’re at least competent. And if you’re evil, you’re not bad. And therefore maybe you’re actually kind of good because you’re at least getting something done.”
Peter Thiel: “The pope recently issued this AI encyclical, or I would characterize it as an anti-AI encyclical. “And again, maybe it was too harsh, but the rhetorical point I have on it is that the Communist Party of China is not going to listen to the pope. “There’s a chance people in the U.S. will. And so, in effect, the pope’s encyclical was working for the Communist Party. “I’m not saying he was an agent of the Communists, but he was at least acting as a useful idiot for the CCP.”
Leo XIV can’t keep his mouth shut! Pope Leo XIV responds to Trump’s CNN White House ban
Pope Leo reportedly responded to a liberal journalist about Trump’s CNN ban that he is ‘very happy that here you are all welcome, and good coverage, I think, is very important.’
Spain’s bishops have called a national meeting in Madrid on Nov. 30 to discuss how priests should exercise their ministry in a “more synodal Church.” The gathering will focus on “differentiated co-responsibility” between clergy, religious and laity, with its conclusions intended to feed into further reflection with priests across Spanish dioceses.

Bishops were consulted about Islamic prayer at Catholic Mass, university says

An altar was destroyed, and a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary smashed, in a cemetery chapel in Bari, Italy. An empty tabernacle and priestly vestments were stolen in the attack.
Active Participation: You can participate without doing anything I think one of the things we really need to clarify when we talk about “active participation” at Mass is what we actually mean by the word “active.” Because sometimes, especially when comparing the Novus Ordo with the Traditional Latin Mass, it seems like active participation is understood primarily as doing something externally: saying more responses, making more gestures, moving around more, singing more, serving at the altar, reading the readings, bringing up the gifts, or somehow having a physical task to perform during the liturgy. And I understand where that idea comes from. Obviously, the congregation should not be completely disconnected from what is happening at the altar. Catholics are not supposed to be spectators at Mass. We are there to worship God. But if we define “active participation” as simply having a job to do or making more external responses and movements, then we run into a pretty obvious problem. If …More
Leo XIV appoints an interfaith champion, Monsignor Alfonso Raimo, 67, as Bishop of Terni-Narni-Amelia, Italy (September 15). Raimo has been auxiliary bishop of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno since April 2024 and a honoaray member of Rotary Club since 2025. Founder of an interreligious organization In 2022, the School of Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue was formally constituted, with Raimo as its president. In an October 2023 interview, Raimo explicitly connected the origins of his interreligious School with John Paul II's Assisi gathering. He explained that people of different religions walk together because “all religions can offer a contribution” to attaining peace. He considers dialogue “not only as a desirable possibility but as a common obligation and the only viable path.” Raimo described peace as a “harmony of differences” and called for accepting “diversity as an opportunity for personal growth and social development.” Christ went the "path of dialogue" In the same interview …More
Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller said he spent an entire day on the film set of Mel Gibson’s “The Resurrection of the Christ: Part One,” discussing the theology of the Resurrection with the Catholic filmmaker.
I hope Cardinal Mueller learned something, because his teaching on the Resurrection (a camera couldn't have filmed the event) is terrible and really amounts to a denial,

Ordained as priest for the Archdiocese of Newark by Theodore McCarrick in 1992, Started "Open Arms Ministry" for the homosexuals
Leo XIV has named the homosexual activist Michael Saporito, 64, Bishop of Metuchen, New Jersey (September 15). Monsignor Saporito, 64, is currently auxiliary bishop of Newark. Institutional Connection to McCarrick A native of Newark, Saporito entered the McCarrick seminary in 1987. In 1992, Archbishop Theodore McCarrick ordained Saporito to the priesthood. In 1999, homosexual McCarrick elevated the young Rev Saporito as assistant director of vocations. Founded Homosexual Ministry in Parish During Saporito’s tenure as pastor of St. Joseph Church in Maplewood (2004–2011), the parish employed an openly homosexual man as its full-time director of music and liturgy. He said he disclosed the relationship before being hired. Furthermore, as pastor of St. Joseph, Rev Saporito founded a group for homosexuals called "Open Arms Ministry." A 2011 report noted that the parish's embrace of homosexuals came under Saporito: “Above all, according to parishioners, Saporito - through words and deeds …More
The State of Massachusetts took a 15-year-old girl into custody after her Catholic parents refused to affirm that she was a boy, following a secret social transition by school staff. It’s been almost two years since the state kidnapped her, and authorities are now trying to give this girl testosterone.
A Massachusetts family says the state took custody of their teenage daughter after they refused to affirm her as a boy, citing their Catholic faith. The parents allege a school counselor socially transitioned their daughter without their knowledge, then reported them to the Department of Children and Families. Now the state has guardianship, and a restraining order prevents the teen's parents and older brother from contacting her. A judge has temporarily blocked the state from administering high-dose testosterone as the family fights the case. The next court hearing is set for Oct. 29.
Dorado draws his own conclusion: “The Church is called to disappear so that the Kingdom may grow.” He explained his ecclesiology with the explicit analogy to John the Baptist's words in John 3:30, "He must increase, but I must decrease."
Leo XIV appoints Archbishop: “The Church is called to disappear so that the Kingdom may grow.” Today, Pope Leo XIV appointed Father Mario León Dorado, 52 — a T-shirt guy and an adherent of the heretical Abu Dhabi program — as Coadjutor Archbishop of Rabat, Morocco. Born in Madrid, Dorado joined the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in 1996 and was ordained a priest in 2001. He has served as Apostolic Prefect of Western Sahara since 2013. “The Church is called to disappear” In September 2022, he wrote a reflection on his almost two decades of missionary work in an extraordinarily small Catholic community. His experience is that authentic love makes it possible to welcome the other without the 'need to change him'. Christ's kingdom cannot grow without the Catholic Church. Since the gates of Hell will not prevail against her, the Church might go underground, but she will not disappear.
An interesting exchange here between William F. Buckley Jr. and Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen from 1970, where the good Bishop’s answers sound incredibly contemporary and not entirely satisfactory. Almost as if the Church has been in stasis for 50 years.
In 1970 there was much optimism about Vat II among many clerics. The mass exodus of priests and religious had barely begun. Ditto the great exodus of the laity. Thus, Sheen's optimism is not surprising. In 1970 99% of clerics were talking as if the Vat II documents had floated down from heaven. The first high level cleric who spoke publicly about flaws in Vat II was Cardinal Ratzinger.
