No confessions for young people at the youth vigil in Madrid. Instead, laymen and laywomen will sit in “listening centers” to hear what teenagers would normally bring to the Sacrament of Confession. No priest required. No absolution. No mention of sin. Just listening.
The organizers insist confession still exists, just at local churches, far from where the young people actually are. It is the same trick communists used to close parishes: raise the taxes until no one can pay, then announce, “We didn’t close your church. You did.” Now Rome says, “We didn’t eliminate confession. You just didn’t go find it.” The gaslighting is intentional.
The panel raises a practical nightmare: will these lay listeners undergo background checks? Will they be trained to recognize abuse disclosures? Or will vulnerable teenagers pour out their hearts to strangers with no sacramental seal, no spiritual authority, and no accountability? …
