Why God Sometimes Allows Spiritual Darkness During times of spiritual difficulty and purification, it may feel like God has abandoned us, but this is not the case. God allows us to experience these feelings to purify us of selfishness and strengthen our virtues. Like Mother Teresa, we should focus on loving and serving others, even when we don’t feel God’s presence, because He is always with us, guiding us towards sainthood. The journey to holiness involves four stages: the active and passive nights of the senses, and the active and passive nights of the spirit. While we can actively pursue virtues like humility, true perfection requires God’s transformative work through trials and darkness. These experiences, though painful, are ultimately rewards that purify us and deepen our charity, the foundation of all virtues. Fr. James Martin SJ Wants the Church to Ordain [More] Homosexual Priests: Homosexual activist Fr James Martin SJ has called on Pope Leo XIV to remove the – largely unenforced – restrictions against "celibate homosexuals" to become priests. Fr Martin believes that "sexual orientation" alone should not stop a man from being ordained. He points to Pope Francis, who said there are already many "holy, healthy and celibate" homosexual priests. However, in 2005 Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger concluded that men with deep-seated homosexual temptations should not enter the seminary because they lack the emotional maturity needed for lifelong celibacy.
The Vatican on July 22 denied reports circulating on blogs and social media that Father Marko Rupnik, the former Jesuit accused by several women religious of sexual abuse, had been acquitted.
Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said today that “reports of any deliberation by the judges following the case of Rev. Marko Ivan Rupnik are absolutely unfounded.” He said the evaluation is still ongoing and the panel is examining documentation from the dioceses involved, the Jesuits, interested parties, and the press. “During the trial, as with any judicial proceeding, no information regarding ongoing activity can be shared in any way, out of respect for the trial itself and to avoid harming anyone involved.” Bruni added that the canonical criminal proceeding “may provide guidance regarding guilt or innocence in accordance with Canon Law,” while Rupnik remains subject to the civil laws and statutes of limitations of the countries where any crimes were allegedly committed. Meanwhile, Laura Sgrò - the lawyer representing five women accusing Rupnik - said the Vatican process has been almost completely opaque. German Balloon Mass with Female Dialogue Homily: On 22 July, a Eucharist in Munich to celebrate the Feast of St Mary Magdalene featured a woman performing a liturgical dance in a red dress. Another woman wearing an alb and a stole-like liturgical scarf delivered a dialogue homily with Auxiliary Bishop Wolfgang Bischof and stood near the altar during the Eucharist. Red balloons were also used during the celebration.

Marko Ivan Rupnik after the Holy See denied reports that the judges had reached a decision. Yesterday, Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni called claims of any judicial deliberation "absolutely unfounded." However, Casalini argues today that the Vatican refuted something his publication never claimed. His sources indicated that certain allegations had been removed from the proceedings because they lacked sufficient evidence or did not constitute offenses under Canon Law - not that a final verdict had been reached. "The question," Casalini writes, "is whether our report is unfounded, or whether the only unfounded claim - one we never made - is that a final judgment has already been reached." Young Catholics in Brazil are expressing a desire for deeper faith formation, greater emphasis on holiness, and well-celebrated liturgy, while also voicing frustration with what they see as an excessive focus on sociopolitical issues in the Church, according to a national survey presented to the Brazilian Bishops' Conference (CNBB). The 2025 survey, conducted by the CNBB's Episcopal Commission for Youth with academic partners, gathered responses from more than 11,000 Catholics aged 12 to 29 across Brazil. It used a voluntary online questionnaire rather than a representative random sample. According to the partial results (document below), holiness and the Christian faith were the most frequently cited topics of interest among respondents. The former Catholic seminary and boarding school in Bay Shore, New York, is set to become a Muslim boarding school, reports LiBn.com on July 15. The United American Muslim Association (UAMA) purchased the building for $5.2 million. The 6,500-square-metre centre, founded in 1926 by the Montfort Missionaries, was used to train priests before later serving as a retreat house. Pending approval of a zoning change, the new owners intend to establish an Islamic boarding school for up to 120 boys. According to its website, UAMA aims to provide an education in accordance with the Quran and Sunnah. While this is the most common situation, please never overlook the fact that men's reproductive rights are completely and fully abrogated and usurped by women and by law. A woman may kill a man's son or daughter with complete impunity, no recourse for the father, and typically no sympathy or support for the father.
