Who are the four new bishops that the Society of Saint Pius X will consecrate tomorrow, one of whom is only 36 years old? They are two Frenchmen, one Swiss, and one American. Tomorrow, in Écône, they will receive episcopal consecration despite the final appeal launched by Pope Leo XIV to prevent what he describes as a «schismatic act». Ursula von der Leyen celebrated Budapest Pride on X, writing: "The streets of Budapest are filled with joy and pride... I am so glad that the LGBTIQ+ community in Hungary can finally march without fear." One user pushed back, replying: "There was no fear even under Orbán. What are you talking about? They were safer here in Hungary than in your country. I'm tired of your nonsense about Orbán's Hungary. He was right about almost everything."

Pope Leo Faces the First Crisis of His Pontificate

Mr. Gibson is the director of the Center on Religion and Culture at Fordham University.
When terms like “schism” and “excommunication” crop up in news stories about the Catholic Church, you start looking around for a momentous event that will change the course of history, like the Protestant Reformation in 1517 or the Great Schism in 1054 dividing the Western and Eastern churches. The Vatican’s likely censure of a tiny anti-modernist Catholic sect is none of those things. But the attendant furor is sparking a lot of schismatic-sounding declarations and eye-glazing arguments about the arcane details of Catholic liturgy.
The focus of the uproar is a breakaway faction based in Ecône, Switzerland, the Society of St. Pius X, which is devoted to the celebration of an outdated version of the Mass in Latin. Why is the group, named after Pope Pius X, a fiercely …More

According to a new study, airports and industrial zones are 2.5 to 2.8 C hotter than nearby green spaces. 20 years of satellite records were analyzed. Urban areas were found to have warmed, while vegetated zones actually cooled by almost twice as much. Runways and jet exhaust see airports run 2.5 C hotter than the surrounding area. Industrial zones often fare even worse, trapping heat with concrete and machinery. Forests and rivers, on the other hand, were found to have cooled by up to 4 C compared to urban areas. In fact, between 2001 to 2021, large areas of rural land actually cooled. Most global surface stations are located in cities and airports, meaning much of the warming signal they deliver is urban heat. 'Man-made' warming could be correct, but literally so: our runways, roads, and concrete are skewing the global temperature record.

Why I am joining the Catholic Herald

A little before Christmas, I was very grateful to be asked by the Catholic Herald to pen the new Vatican Dispatch, giving readers a twice-weekly update from Rome and a summary of the chief Vatican stories of the week.
As an Irish-English journalist specialising in the Vatican for the last six years, my work has mainly been published in American Catholic outlets, and so the Catholic Herald’s Vatican Dispatch marked a rare treat for me, enabling me to write such columns while engaging with audiences both abroad and now at home.
The Catholic Church has so much vigour in North America, and this naturally spills over into the wide variety of Catholic media outlets based in that great nation. As a journalist writing for such an audience, it has been rewarding to witness that fervour in the Faith and the fruits it can lead to. Yet I always clung to my desire somehow to contribute to the development of the Faith closer to home: to partake in a Catholic revival back in the UK. “Mary’s Dowry …

One must seriously considered that a few of these "catholic media" apostolates are simply fifth columnists seeking to spread propaganda. Think of outfits like Crux which was started by some NCR guy with the backing of the Boston Globe and bailed out by the Knights of Columbus. This organization has combined influence from 1) liberal modernist dissenters, 2) secularists, 3) neo-con Catholics. Totally organic "grass-roots"? NO WAY!

What happened to LifeSiteNews 2025 has also not yet been disclosed, nor has the question of who funds it been answered (the idea that it is funded by small donors is clearly nonsense).

Just 24-hours before the SSPX plans to consecrate four new bishops, the Pope sent his much awaited final appeal to the Society, seeking to call off the ceremony even at such late notice. It was two weeks ago to the day that Leo commented he intended to make such an appeal, and ever since then Vatican observers have been waiting to see what form it would take.

The Pope's letter comes as his first personal appeal to the SSPX, as they prepare to consecrate four bishops on July 1 without having been granted the papal mandate.
VATICAN CITY (

Please do not malign Pope Leo. It is not hardness of heart at all. He simply follows the Synodal Church mindset of "what I don't like must be wrong, what I do like must be right." "Licit" means in keeping with preexisting law and dogma. Pope Leo has not used the word that way because he literally hasn't been formed to understand that the Pope is not the source of truth but only the caretaker of the truth which was revealed ages ago and does not change with the times, public consensus or concrete situations.

BREAKING: Pope Leo begs SSPX not to consecrate bishops: 'Turn back!' - LifeSite

VATICAN CITY (
LifeSiteNews) — Pope Leo has made a public appeal to the head of the traditionalist Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX) not to carry out the episcopal consecrations planned for tomorrow, July 1.
This morning, June 30, Pope Leo released a letter to Father Davide Pagliarani, the current head of the SSPX, his bishops, priests and seminarians, as well as the lay faithful “connected” to the Society, warning that the consecrations would be a “schismatic act.” [Full letter printed below.]
“I plead with you and ask you with all my heart: please turn back!” the Pontiff wrote.
“I urge you to consider carefully the spiritual good of the faithful, because the schismatic act you are about to undertake would deprive them of the licit and, in some cases, even valid reception of the Sacraments, which they love and seek for their sanctification.”
In his letter, Pope Leo said that “to tear the seamless garment of Christ”–meaning …

Definition of CISMATICS according to those who, through a coup d’état, ousted the Holy Pontiff Benedict XVI
1) If you worship God in a devout and solemn manner (the Traditional Mass)
2) If you do not worship Pachamama or similar deities
3) If you do NOT agree with sexual relations between men and between women (Fiducia Suplicans).
4) If you do not agree with *Amoris Laetitia*, which encourages the divorced and remarried to receive Communion, in clear defiance of Jesus, who warned that what God has joined together, no man may separate.
5) If you allow people to kneel before God present in the Eucharist.
6) If you are not a supporter of Islam, which teaches that those who recognize Jesus as God deserve hell. Islam teaches that Jesus was not crucified on the Cross. According to Islam, Judas Iscariot was crucified in His place.
7) If you do not accept that Jesus’ death on the Cross was a failure on God’s part.

How is this man the prefect of the former Holy Office?!?
« The future Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández blatantly endorsed universalism, or the idea that all are saved, in a recently uncovered paper written more than 30 years ago. In a 46-page 1995 essay titled “Romanos 9-11: gracia y predestinación” (Grace and Predestination) first reported by El Wanderer, the future Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith wrote extensively on the Church’s teaching on salvation and predestination, citing the works Saints Augustine and Thomas Aquinas, though the then-priest focused on what they wrote on God’s mercy while largely ignoring His justice. Ultimately, Fernández concluded his work by stressing that he “firmly trusts” that “everyone will be saved,” adding that this is not a “mere wish” but based on what he “know(s) of God and His specific plans.” »

Toronto's Cardinal Leo posts great message for Canada Day, but where is the action?

Canada Day is a statutory holiday to mark the anniversary of the Canadian Confederation which occurred on July 1, 1867. So on July 1 it's Canada's birthday. For the occasion, Toronto's Cardinal Frank Leo has released a good message. He rightly reflects on the meaning of being human, of freedom and truth. What kind of nation are we building? What are we celebrating? Here's what he says:
My Dear Brothers and Sisters,
May Jesus and Mary be in your hearts.
In the coming days we will celebrate Canada Day, a time when we rightly commemorate what Canada is: a land of peace, opportunity, and security. Gratitude matters, and it is important to recognize our blessings and give thanks. Yet this year, I would invite the faithful of the Archdiocese of Toronto to consider a deeper, more searching question undergirding our celebrations: “Who are we becoming?” not only as individuals, but as a nation.
Many of the tensions we experience today—our debates, divisions, polarization and uncertainties—…
