Vatican CDF consultation in 2016 rejected Medjugorje as supernatural — yet Pope Francis later green-lit devotion anyway.

Vatican Rejected Medjugorje - Francis "Approved" it Anyway

On 6 August, Italian journalist David Murgia published the results of a confidential 2016 consultation within the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith concerning the alleged apparitions at Medjugorje on IlSegnoDiGiona.com.
Two Thirds of the Congregation said Medjugorje was NOT Supernatural
According to Murgia, 33 participants were asked to provide written opinions, or 'vota', on the Medjugorje phenomenon.
Murgia reports the following results (17 September 2016):
21 participants chose 'constat de non supernaturalitate' (not of supernatural origin).
9 participants chose 'constat de supernaturalitate' (supernatural origin).
3 chose 'non constat de supernaturalitate' (the supernatural character has not been established).
This corresponds to approximately 63.6 per cent for 'not supernatural', while only nine voted in favour.
Ruini Commission, 2010-2014
This voting followed the work of the International Commission of Inquiry on Medjugorje, commonly known as the Ruini Commission.

Hiroshima must remain forever in humanity's memory as a warning, not a precedent. Behind that explosion lay lives, families, dreams, and generations scarred by a pain that should never be repeated. No conflict, ideology, or pursuit of power can justify such a tragedy. May the memory of Hiroshima help us understand that, given our capacity for self-destruction, peace, dialogue, and reason are not merely options—they are a responsibility we owe to humanity and to generations yet to come. Never again a nuclear war.

Approximately 2000 studies support DMSO's use for conditions ranging from Alzheimer's and Parkinson's to strokes, MS, ALS, chronic pain, neuropathy, depression, epilepsy, and Down syndrome, and a physician who began treating his patients with it estimates roughly 80% of what people see neurologists for goes away with DMSO.

" I saw in a dream," she says, " one of our sisters who had died some time previous. She told me that she suffered much in Purgatory, but that God had inflicted upon her a suffering which surpassed all other pains, by showing her one of her near relatives precipitated into Hell."

‘Pains of Purgatory Diversity of the Pains — King Sancho and Queen Guda …’ – ‘Purgatory’ by Rev. Shouppe; 1929; Chapter XX; p. 62-64, part II

Chapter XX ~ Diversity of the Pains — King Sancho and Queen Guda — St. Lidwina and the Soul Transpierced — Blessed Margaret Mary and the Bed of Fire.
We read in the Life of Blessed Margaret Mary that a soul was tortured in a bed of torments on account of her indolence during life ; at the same time she was subjected to a particular torture in her heart, on account of certain wicked sentiments, and in her tongue, in punishment of her uncharitable words. Moreover, she had to endure a frightful pain of an entirely different nature, caused neither by fire nor iron, but by the sight of a condemned soul. Let us see how the Blessed Margaret describes it in her writings.
" I saw in a dream," she says, " one of our sisters who had died some time previous. She told me that she suffered much in Purgatory, but that God had inflicted upon her a suffering which surpassed all other pains, by showing her one of her near relatives precipitated into Hell.

The Redemption of Man and the Rejection of “Holy Sex”
A Patristic and Scholastic Disputation Against the Modern Exaltation of Carnal Pleasure
“The first man Adam was made into a living soul; the last Adam into a quickening spirit.”
—1 Corinthians 15:45
Prologue: The Question Before Us
There is a fundamental question which must be asked before we speak of the holiness of sexual pleasure:
What is man?
And immediately after that:
What became of man through the Fall?
For if we begin with fallen man as though his present condition were the standard of human nature, we shall inevitably mistake the wounds of the Fall for the original design of God.
This is precisely the danger in the modern exaltation of sexuality.
The question is no longer merely:
"Is marital intercourse lawful?"
The Catholic tradition already answers that question.
The more profound question is:
"What ought the Christian to desire within the marital act?"
And here a profound difference appears between the ascetical tradition …More

Saint Romanus, Martyr - August 9th
SaintoftheDay
He said the same thing before the tribunal that he had said everywhere else since his baptism: I am a Christian. He had been a Christian for perhaps one day. It was enough. One day of truth is sufficient for a martyr's crown. He could not understand how a man of flesh and blood could be tortured without opening his mouth to complain. Then he saw the Angel. That is always the order — first the inexplicable endurance, then the supernatural explanation. Faith works the same way. The faithful sins if his neighbor sins — that was Saint Matthias's saying. Romanus saw a neighbor suffering for Christ and could not remain indifferent. He converted on the spot. He was beheaded the next day. His neighbor's martyrdom was his baptism. Grace is contagious. He saw beside the tortured martyr a young man of incomparable grace and beauty wiping away the blood. No one else seemed to see him. That vision cost Romanus his life. He considered it well spent. Mexican Bishop Hops Left and Right Before the Altar: Bishop José Leopoldo González González, 71, of San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco, Mexico, hopped and danced in liturgical vestments, including his mitre, during Emaús 2026. The diocesan gathering brought together more than 5,000 young Catholics on 23–24 May in San Miguel el Alto, Jalisco. González explained that a young man had told him the dance was simple—“one step to the right and another to the left” - and joked that he had “fallen into the trap.”

During Emaús 2026 in San Miguel el Alto, Bishop José Leopoldo González González drew attention for his energetic participation with young people during the activities and Mass.

‘The Sight of Hell’ by Rev. John Furniss, C.S.S.R.; 1882; Chapter XXVII; Pages 13-14; ‘The Boiling Kettle…’

Chapter XXVII. ~ The Fourth Dungeon
The Boiling Kettle
Amos iv. The days shall come when they shall lift you up on pikes, and what remains of you in boiling pots.
Look into this little prison. In the middle of it there is a boy, a young man. He is silent; despair is on him. He stands straight up. His eyes are burning like two burning coals. Two long flames come out of his ears. His breathing is difficult. Sometimes he opens his mouth and breath of blazing fire rolls out of it. But listen! There is a sound just like that of a kettle boiling. Is it really a kettle which is boiling? No; then what is it? Hear what it is.
The blood is boiling in the scalded veins of that boy. The brain is boiling and bubbling in his head. The marrow is boiling in his bones! Ask him, put the question to him, why is he thus tormented? His answer is, that when he was alive, his blood boiled to do very wicked things, and he did them, and it was for that he went to dancing-houses, public-houses, and theatres.

Leo XIV-Appointed Bishop Ends Diocese’s Only Latin Mass After 20 Years

Bishop Mark A. Eckman, 67, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will bring an end to the traditional Latin Mass at St. Titus Church in Aliquippa after nearly 20-years.
Bishop Eckman was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Pittsburgh in 2021. In June 2025, Leo XIV promoted him to Bishop of Pittsburgh.
In a letter dated 7 August (see below), Monsignor Eckman announced that the final Mass to be held at St. Titus using the 1962 Missal is scheduled for 4 September.
The remaining two traditional Latin Masses in Pittsburgh are offered by the Institute Christ the King in Brighton Heights and by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X in the West End.
Bishop Eckman said his predecessor, Bishop David A. Zubik, received Vatican permission in 2022 to continue the Mass at St. Titus. The initial two-year authorization was extended in September 2024 for another two years.
The Bishop didn't seek another extension, “The permission to celebrate according to the older ritual in a parish church was only ever meant to be …More

“They Want to Kill Me on Friday?” - Great-Grandmother Euthanized in Canada

Brigitte Stegemann was an 83-year-old great-grandmother and a Christian. On July 10, she died through Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) program in Ontario.
Diagnosed with terminal Stage IV stomach cancer, Stegemann had wanted to die naturally. But while her granddaughter and longtime legal representative, Brigitte Kranendonk, was away on vacation, medical personnel discussed MAiD with Stegemann.
She was subsequently deemed capable of choosing MAiD despite allegedly being unable to answer basic questions about her own family. Canadian Catholic News reported that Kranendonk said her grandmother had originally rejected MAiD but was persuaded to request it during her absence.
When Kranendonk returned and asked her grandmother whether she really wanted to die, Stegemann’s reaction was heartbreaking. “I’m supposed to die on Friday? They want to kill me on Friday?”, she reportedly asked through tears.
Her family says she later repeatedly expressed regret, telling them she had made a …More

Fides Et Ratio

Early August already brings shelves of sinister Halloween imagery. Sir Christopher Lee once warned against dabbling in the occult. The Church has always known better. All Hallows Eve belongs to the saints, not to the enemies of God. A short reflection on what Satan can only ape, and how Catholics can take the holy day back.

Satan Cannot Create. He Can Only Ape. - Fides et Ratio | Reflections on life from a theological and rational perspective

The stores are already full of it. Early August, and the shelves are stacked with Halloween merchandise. That alone is strange enough. What stopped me, though, was not the early arrival of pumpkins. It was the increasingly sinister imagery, the grotesque, the demonic, and the overt fascination with darkness. Something has shifted from the old autumnal playfulness into a more open invitation to what is ugly and menacing. Sir Christopher Lee spent a lifetime portraying darkness on screen as Dracula, Saruman, and Lord Summerisle. When a rumor circulated that he kept a vast occult library, he answered it directly during a 2011 appearance at University College Dublin. He did not. He owned only a few books on the subject. Then he offered a sharper warning. He had met people who claimed to be Satanists and involved with black magic, yet he himself had never been involved. He told the audience, “I warn all of you: never, never, never. You will not only lose your mind, you’ll lose your soul.”¹ …

Don Curzio Nitoglia - Jesus and malediction of Judaism

The Lord Jesus cursed some cities of Galilee (Mt., XI, 20-24; Luke, X, 10-16) for their unbelief; as then in Judea, shortly before being killed, he also cursed Jerusalem as unfaithful and ready for Deicide (Mt., XXIV, 15; Luke, XIX, 43).
Certainly Jesus did not desire the supreme spiritual evil, that is, the eternal damnation, of the unbelieving Jews of Galilee and Judea; in fact, it would have been seriously illicit and sinful; however, He asked for a certain material evil for them, but always for their conversion; as well as even asked for a punishment or a certain temporary and initial – spiritual evil of unfaithful Judaism, as long as it was not definitive and absolute, but rather so that it would serve as a moral lesson to him and spur him on to a greater spiritual good and true conversion (S. THOMAS AQUINAS, S. Th., II-II, q. 76).
In the Gospel (Mt., both objectively and materially, exclaiming: “Woe to you ...!”.
This is the objective or material curse.
Furthermore, Jesus did not …More
