Despite abortion views, Biden, Pelosi receive Communion in Vatican Mass
Vice President Joseph R. Biden and House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi both received Communion during the Mass to celebrate the installation of Pope Francis in spite of their pro-choice position on abortion.
The vice president’s office confirmed Tuesday night that both he and Mrs. Pelosi took Communion during the Mass at St. Peter’s Square in Rome.
Some Catholics argue that politicians whose positions on abortion and contraception conflict with church teachings should not receive communion.
“Vice President Biden and Nancy Pelosi should certainly not receive Communion, either at the papal installation or anywhere else. Communion means ‘union,’ and they are not in union with the church on the most fundamental moral issue of the right to life,” said the Rev. Frank Pavone, founder of Priests for Life, a U.S.-based Catholic anti-abortion organization.
He predicted a “public uproar …More

Typical modernist---Francis does nothing to prevent these heretics from receiving communion and doing a grave public sacrilege and scandal. But most of all they offend God and Francis is responsible.

You know Ben I didn't know a most the things you said, and I was just responding with what I heard on EWTN when I was watching the Mass. Thanks for the info, and thanks for responding in a post like this so more people can know.

These are "the usual conditions" for receiving a plenary indulgence:

have the intention of gaining the indulgence
receive the Sacrament of Penance (within several days before or after the prescribed action of the indulgence, though the same day is best, if possible)
receive the Eucharist (within several days before or after the prescribed action of the indulgence, though the same day is best, if possible)
pray 6 Paters (Our Fathers), 6 Aves (Hail Marys), and 6 Glorias (Glory Bes) for the intentions of the Holy Father (within several days before or after the prescribed action of the indulgence, though the same day is best, if possible). The most recent Enchiridion prescribes at least one of each, but 6 is the traditional number.
perform the prescribed action of the indulgence. If the prescribed action of the indulgence requires a visit to a church or oratory, one must visit devoutly and recite 1 Our Father and the Creed. This doesn't refer to any visits to a church for Confession or the Eucharist in order to fulfill the requirements listed above; it refers to such indulgences as those granted to the faithful for visiting a church on the day of its consecration, visiting their parochial church on its titular feast day, visiting the stational churches of Rome, etc.
be free from all attachment to venial sin

This last is most difficult, but if it can't be fulfilled, a partial indulgence will be gained

Correct, but from what I have been told, you can get yourself into a state of Grace within a given time period before or after the Plenary Indulgence has been granted..

One has to be in the State of Grace to get a Plenary Indulgence---this excludes Biden and Pelosi. They are on the road to Hell and not gaining graces.

One thing that I do know, is that those who attended the Papal installation were granted a Plenary Indulgence, so this could be a new beginning for Biden and Pelosi and others... but I doubt it....

I am thinking that it is just to try and draw people into the Church, who would just reject it, and gain more respect, but when they do this it only degrads the integrity of the Church on its fundamental teachings...

If Jesus was not Christ he would not know Judas intent before it was done. So this is not the same. Pelosi and Biden are public sinners with long history of teaching and acting heretical. This was not the case for Christ with Judas.

So it duty of Francis to prevent this public scandals and sacrileges and he did NOT

What is Francis doing with Cardinal Wuerl and all those giving communion to heretics---the same as JPII and B16 did---nothing--but promote these men.

Well, this comes as no surprise. Everything must be played out in a political fashion, all the while, daring the pope or any priest to refuse these heretics would bring scandal onto the papacy and the church, not vice-versa! Some Catholics argue that politicians whose positions on abortion and contraception conflict with church teachings should not receive communion.

Some Catholics actually believe what the Catholic Church teaches.
----------------------------------------------------------

A Vatican spokesman said Monday that Francis won’t personally be distributing communion — the wafer and wine that Catholics believe transform into the blood and body of Christ when consecrated during Mass — but that it will instead done by 500 priests assisting.
--------------------------------------------------------------

But Cardinal Donald Wuerl of Washington, part of the conclave that elected Francis, has said he would offer Pelosi communion despite her views on abortion because he didn’t believe communion should be used as a weapon. “We never -– the Church just didn’t use Communion this way. It wasn’t a part of the way we do things, and it wasn’t a way we convinced Catholic politicians to appropriate the faith and live it and apply it; the challenge has always been to convince people,” Wuerl said in a 2010 interview. His position would logically extend to Biden. The vice president’s bishop, Francis Malooly of Wilmington, Del., has also said he would not deny communion to Biden.

Exactly as I predicted.
Basically the rule is anybody can receive Communion under pretty much any circumstances. You can read canon law all day long, but when the rubber meats the road, pro-aborts are welcome in the Church.
