On September 26, about 200 faithful of the Society of St. Pius X (FSSPX) made their annual pilgrimage to the Canadian Martyrs’ Shrine in Midland, Ontario. Their published programme scheduled veneration of the relics at the Shrine at 3 p.m. The pilgrims were denied entrance to the church. According to LifeSiteNews.com, this was ordered by the Archdiocese of Toronto. The FSSPX has made this pilgrimage for years. In September 2025, more than 500 FSSPX pilgrims attended. In contrast to the denial of entry to the FSSPX pilgrims, in July 2026 the Archdiocese of Toronto advertised the annual Tamil pilgrimage at the same Shrine. Amazing shrine. Wife and I took the trip to Midland ON about 5 years ago. The vastness looking out from the Overlook platform to the river was expansive. It is hard to believe the Indians and Jesuit Missionaries paddled these great distances. Fall colors were spectacular. The restored Indian village was so interesting to see.

Having alledgely planned to attend none of Pope Leo XIV's liturgies, President Macron has suddenly “rearranged his diary” to attend the Papal Eucharist in Metz. The cathedral is located in the department of Moselle, which is not governed by France’s 1905 laicist law. It was part of Germany when the law was adopted, and it still operates under the Alsace-Moselle concordat system. Macron is now contributing to the wave of enthusiasm generated for Leo XIV. Some journalists framed Macron’s initially announced absence from Leo XIV’s papal liturgies as a deliberate snub. They linked it to reports that the Vatican had declined opportunities for additional private time between Macron and the Pope.
