The celebrity priest Fr. Chad Ripperger had his ministry restricted as early as 2025. An investigation published by his critics at WherePeterIs.com on October 20 documents earlier restrictions Fr Ripperger by the Archdiocese of Denver. Fr Ripperger is known for attributing various psychological conditions, temptations, and behaviors to demonic influence. He has associated named demons with abortion, homosexuality, sloth, and other matters, and has described obtaining information about demons by questioning them during alleged exorcisms. In a 2018 lecture, Ripperger claimed that cases of bipolar disorder were actually cases of demonic obsession. Then-Archbishop Samuel Aquila of Denver initiated an investigation in March 2025. It followed a complaint from a family whose relative stopped taking psychiatric medication after following Ripperger's advice and subsequently suffered severe, reportedly irreversible harm. I have had issues with Fr. Ripperger for years. Primarily the fact that he encounters demons and understands the diabolic, but he cannot see the demonic crisis in the church?? He goes out of his way to critique and criticize the SSPX and the REAL need for the consecrations. +Abp. Lefebvre's quote about the FSSP and any group or priest who will compromise, hits the nail on the head "They are shaking hands with the Church’s destroyers. They are shaking hands with people holding modernist and liberal ideas condemned by the Church. So they are doing the devil’s work.”
Ripperger recounts developing severe gout after meeting a woman he believed was possessed. He says medication did not help, but performing a minor exorcism on himself made the gout disappear. He attributes the illness to a curse.
