Cardinal Gerhard Müller spoke at the June 26 consistory about the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX), IlGiornale.it reports. He addressed the FSSPX's allegations that the Vatican has deviated from the Church's magisterium. Cardinal Müller proposed preparing a response to the Fraternity that would affirm that Rome has never abandoned the path of Catholicism, contrary to their claims. He also said that, following Wednesday's episcopal consecrations, many Lefebvrists would seek to enter into full canonical communion with the Church. The Vatican should prepare to welcome them back by proposing a structure modelled on the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, which was established by Pope John Paul II in 1988. Cardinal Müller's intervention was received without comment during the session. Picture: Vatican Media, #newsVrgqbzlram

26 neoconservative theology professors from Franciscan University of Steubenville - including Scott Hahn, John Bergsma, Michael Waldstein, Mark Miravalle, and university president Fr. Dave Pivonka - has published an open letter urging the FSSPX not to proceed with episcopal consecrations without a pontifical mandate. They represent a substantial portion of Steubenville's influential Theology Department (about 30 faculty members). Their argument is that no crisis in the Church justifies an act that would further damage the Church's visible unity with the Pope.
Open letter addressed to the SSPX leadership by nearly all the theologians of Franciscan University of Steubenville. «We write not as adversaries, but as fellow Christians who love the Church, which is built on Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, and who, like you, long for the salvation of souls. Your love for the beauty of the traditional liturgy and your reverence in worship witness your earnest desire to serve the Lord. We share this love and desire.... The treasures of Catholic Tradition do not belong outside communion with Peter; they belong at the heart of the Church.»

Football Match Broadcast Inside Church. Worse than Germany: A football match between France and Norway, which France won 4–1, was broadcast inside a church in Ligny-en-Barrois, France. According to the parish, the church was used because of the heat wave, providing spectators with a cooler venue. During the event, the French national anthem, La Marseillaise, a symbol of the French Revolution, was played inside the church.

"This washing of the feet was spiritual, and served as a species of absolution. Peter, in his zeal, saw nothing in it but too great an act of abasement on the part of his Master; he knew not that to save him Jesus would the very next day humble himself even to the ignominious death of the cross."

They arose from table, and whilst they were arranging their clothes, as they usually did before making their solemn prayer, the major-domo came in with two servants to take away the table. Jesus, standing in the midst of his Apostles, spoke to them long, in a most solemn manner. I could not repeat exactly his whole discourse, but I remember he spoke of his kingdom, of his going to his Father, of what he would leave them now that he was about to be taken away, etc. He also gave them some instructions concerning penance, the confession of sin, repentance, and justification. I felt that these instructions referred to the washing of the feet, and …'Besdal
A 29-year-old monk from the independent Abbey of Notre-Dame de Bellaigue in central France, who had been missing since Tuesday evening, was found safe on Friday. The Benedictine-inspired community in Virlet, in the Puy-de-Dôme department, was formerly affiliated with the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX). It aligned in 2019 with the movement associated with Bishop Richard Williamson. French gendarmes launched a search operation on Wednesday morning, deploying ground teams and aerial resources to locate the missing religious. According to LaMontagne.fr, the monk was found alive and without apparent injuries near Limoges, approximately 170 kilometers (105 miles) west of the monastery. Authorities have not disclosed how the monk came to be so far from the monastery or the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. They have released no information suggesting criminal involvement, nor have they indicated whether he left voluntarily or experienced a medical or psychological …'Besdal

Y'know, Thor... if you don't want to be contacted, don't come back a day later and reply to me. Is that going to be your new little game? Creeping around days later, leaving your spoor here and there in some pathetic attempt to have the proverbial "last word? Oh, you poor little thing. You truly are desperate! "Benedict says in his speech his decision to resign the active ministry (not the office note) does not revoke his promise taken at his papal inauguration." No, that's you re-wording Benedict's original statement to suit your own argument. He doesn't need a speech-writer. You know how to use quotes. Do so. "In addition he speaks of a new way to remain at the side of the crucified Christ in the enclosure of St Peter (ie the papacy)." There is no "i.e" in his original statement. That's you adding your interpretation to what he actually said which didn't include anything supporting your claim. "Benedict believes erroneously that he can bifurcate and alter the nature of the …'Besdal

According to the Substack-Account The Pillar (27 May), Bishop Michael Martin, 63, of Charlotte, North Carolina, is currently working on an anti-liturgical instruction. It would: - restrict the use of Latin in the Novus Ordo - seemingly prohibit the ad orientem celebration of the Eucharist - eliminate the use of altar benches for receiving Communion while kneeling. Bishop Martin has recently become infamous worldwide for abolishing the Roman Mass in four parishes by July, while allowing it to continue at only one site: a former Protestant temple. In January, he removed the altar benches from a parish where they had been used for over a decade. Until Bishop Martin's appointment in April 2024, the Diocese of Charlotte was one of the most thriving in the United States. #newsWlfuhmpaoa

Knoxville Bishop Richard Stika, 62, USA, published on Twitter (December 20 and December 23) a Christmas card showing himself with Cardinal Justin Rigali, 84, and three dogs. The cardinal and the bishop are casually dressed. The card’s text says, “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Cardinal Rigali, Bishop Stika, Stella, Rosie and Molly.” Stika is notorious for posting strange, contradicting and false Twitter statements. For decades, he has been Rigali's protégé and close friend. He served as a vicar general and chancellor of the Saint Louis Archdiocese when Cardinal Rigali was the archbishop there. After Rigali's retirement in 2011, Stika invited him to live in Knoxville diocese. Already in 2016, Stika and Rigali published a Christmas card with Rosie (picture below). #newsFvyihtijig

In the discussion around vaccines tested on fetal cell lines there is what appears to be a small matter of terminology but actually points to a significant difference both ontologically and morally. This is the distinction between cells from a fetal cell line and fetal cells. Fetal cells can often be termed as aborted baby parts, murdered baby organs, or similar. This will examine the ontological and moral distinctions, then ask a question about the COVID vaccines’ use of fetal cell lines...
Audio Player In a legal battle between the Trump administration and the Las Cruces diocese, the religious-liberty arguments of the diocese would be much more persuasive if they were not couched in blatantly political rhetoric. The Trump administration wants to seize land by eminent domain to complete a section of the border wall in the New Mexico desert. The conflict arises because the land is part of the Mount Cristo Rey pilgrimage site, where a giant statue of Christ the King stands atop a mountain near that border. The diocese argues that the border wall would be an “affront to religious liberty.” If the diocese could demonstrate that the wall would inhibit the practice of the Catholic faith, the religious-freedom argument would deserve serious consideration. But instead the diocese contends that the wall itself is “offensive to Catholic values and teachings,” insofar as it is “a physical symbol of the government’s dehumanizing treatment of migrants writ large.” So it seems that …
