Rigid Francis: "We Must Be Freed From Rigidity And Frustration"

As usual, he did not preside at the Eucharist, but sat on the side. He wants all priests to preside exclusively at the Novus Ordo Eucharist, but he himself seems to be fed up with it.
In the homily he spoke of himself: "We must be freed from harshness and recrimination, from selfishness and ambition, from rigidity and frustration, in order to open ourselves completely to God".
He thanked the priests - whom he usually attacks - "for your open and docile hearts", meaning that they should "obey" his arbitrariness.
"Thank you for all your hard work and your tears," he added.

By meditating on the Gospels (cf. Matt 26:1 ff.; Mark 14:1 ff.; Luke 22:1 ff.; John 13:1 ff.), we recall all of Our Lord’s actions on that first Holy Thursday. They included: 1) the eating of the Easter lamb or the paschal meal; 2) the washing of the disciple's feet; 3) the institution of the Most Holy Eucharist (the first Holy Mass at which Jesus Christ, the eternal high priest, is the celebrant; the first Communion of the Apostles; the first conferring of Holy Orders); 4) the foretelling of Judas' betrayal and Peter's denials; 5) the farewell discourse and priestly prayer of Jesus; 6) the agony and capture of Jesus in the …More

Mystic St. Frances of Rome received incredibly detailed descriptions of hell, purgatory and heaven — extremely detailed and as scary as hell. Centuries later, Fr. Robert J. Nixon became the first to translate her visions into English. If they don't scare someone straight today, then little else can.

Which brings us to the Synod on Synodality.
Behind the discussions over hot-button issues, there are competing understandings of development. Progressive voices see tradition as fluid, changing however it needs to in order to adapt to modern values.
Traditionalists, on the other hand, fear that any kind of change will be a rupture from the True Church of the past. From what’s been discussed, however, it’s clear that neither of these perspectives truly understands what the Church means by tradition, nor what Pope Francis is trying to do.
With this synod, Pope Francis has brought together people from all different perspectives and has asked them to listen to the Holy Spirit and listen to each other. At the end of this process, this group of bishops and laypeople will make specific recommendations to the Holy Father, who will ultimately have the final word.
We don’t know what Francis will eventually teach, but we do know that because his teaching is protected by the Holy Spirit,…More

At Tenebrae on Maundy Thursday
Tenebrae (Latin for darkness") is a religious service of the Catholic Church held during the three days preceding Easter Sunday and characterized by gradual extinguishing of candles, and by a "strepitus" or "loud noise" taking place in total darkness near the end of the service. The traditions regarding this service go back at least to the ninth century.
Matins, originally celebrated a few hours after midnight, and lauds, originally celebrated at dawn, were anticipated by the late Middle Ages on the afternoon or evening of the preceding day, and were given the name "Tenebrae" because concluding when darkness was setting in.
The celebration of matins and lauds of these days on the previous evening in the form referred to as Tenebrae in churches with a sufficient number of clergy was universal in the Roman Rite until the reform of the Holy Week ceremonies by Pope Pius XII in 1955.
He restored the Easter Vigil as a night office, moving that Easter liturgy from …More
France: Priest Reported to Prosecutor For Proclaiming Catechism

"We all have weaknesses, the one who is greedy, the one who is hot-tempered, the one who has homosexual tendencies. All the sins, all the vices that can exist in humanity and against which we can fight".
Father Raffray's anodyne words provoked an irrational outburst from Aurore Bergé, the French minister against "discrimination". Without arguments, she called the moderate statement "intolerable" (cf. John 6) and reported the priest to the Gaystapo.
Prosecution against Raffray has little chance of success, but the situation illustrates the growing hostility of the French regime towards Catholicism.
Raffray told FamilleChretienne.fr (21 March) that "I have always been very careful not to hurt or offend people, especially in this sensitive …More

Calling the Shroud of Turin a "Medieval European Forgery" Is a Forgery
The flax used to make the linen of the Turin Shroud was grown in the Western Levant, which covers the modern territories of the Holy Land, Lebanon, western parts of Jordan and Syria. This is the result …More
This is the result of new isotopic tests commissioned by the American archaeologist William Meacham and carried out at the Stable Isotope Laboratory of the University of Hong Kong.
Meacham is a board member of the Shroud of Turin Education and Research Association (STERA). He obtained permission to test five of the seven threads in the group's possession.
The tests confirmed that the pollen on the linen indicated an Eastern Mediterranean presence.
Furthermore, the crown of thorns visible on the shroud is in the form of a helmet rather than a Roman circlet, a characteristic of Asia Minor and the Levant. The use of coins on the eyes in the shroud image matches a documented example from a second century burial in Judea.

His Doctor: Francis Suffers from No Particular Illness, Has Head Of A 60-Year-Old
"I am not aware of any worrying situations," Francis' doctor Sergio Alfieri told Corriere.it (25 March). Alfieri has operated on Francis' abdomen twice in the last three years (in July 2021 and June …More
Alfieri: "The Holy Father is doing well, according to his age and his episodic difficulty in breathing during colder periods, also due to previous lung operations he underwent many years ago. I don't see him every day, but I can assure you that he has no particular illness. He has regular check-ups."
Regarding Francis' tiredness, he said: "He is a man with responsibilities as head of state of the Vatican, who has to make decisions." Alfieri added that "he has the head [or malice] of a 60-year-old" but "the aches and pains of an 87-year-old".
After Francis took the unusual step of skipping his Palm Sunday homily, he read the entire Wednesday general audience text, appearing alert and animated.

Pizzaballa, born in 1965 in Cologno al Serio near Bergamo, Italy, has lived as a Franciscan in the Holy Land for 34 years. He was appointed Cardinal last summer.
For Pentin, the Cardinal is obiously the ideal successor to Francis. He is a "finely balanced" peacemaker in the Israeli-Palestinian war, with a little more sympathy for the Palestinian people.
Isaac Herzog, the right-wing president of Israel, has known Pizzaballa for two decades and considers him a "brilliant person" who is "highly respected" by all parties in the region.
The editor of the Franciscan-run TerraSanta.net praised Pizzaballa's "frankness, courage, non-clerical style, openness to meeting other people and vigour, supported by good health".
Pentin goes on to say that even Francis recognises Cardinal Pizzaballa's diplomatic skills. In addition, Pizzaballa was able to resolve the financial problems of the Latin Patriarchate, a skill …More
