Tired Pope: Yesterday, Pope Francis appeared on Saint Peter’s Square for the Palm Sunday celebrations with a wooden cross he had received on Saturday from prisoners of a Sanremo jail. Francis delivered his homily without manuscript and spoke about the attitude of the different participants in front of the suffering of Jesus. Francis seemed to be tired.

Pandora’s Box: An 58 year old Church of England Canon has – quotation marks - married a 51 year old divorced hospital chaplain. Damian Thompson presumes that this did not happen in an Anglican church. Quote: “That's against the law. But they may well be able to have their marriage blessed in church because that's only "against the rules" as opposed to illegal.” According to Thompson North London is full of cohabitating High Church Anglican gay priests. Quote: “If only a few of them defy their bishop and get married, then the Diocese of London faces a public relations as well as a legal nightmare. Same problem in Chichester Anglican Diocese. Quote: “ I once went to a party in Brighton where a bishop turned up with his much younger Italian boyfriend. None of the other clergy present were bishops but they were all gay.”

Peaceful Co-Existence: The representative of Christian Assyrians and Chaldeans in the Iranian parliament Yonatan Betkelia ruled out discrimination against religious minorities in Iran. He stressed that Christians are conducting a peaceful life along with the Muslims in the country. Iran's Constitution recognizes Christianity, Judaism and Zoroastrianism as divine religions alongside Islam. In December 2012, Chaldean Catholic Bishop Thomas Mirm of Orumiyeh called Iran a good example of peaceful co-existence of all religious groups. The Assyrian-Chaldean Church is the main Christian church in Iran.

DNA Testing: The private Catholic Fenelon-Notre-Dame high school in the French port city of La Rochelle is DNA testing more than 500 male pupils and staff starting today in an effort to trace the rapist of a 16-year-old girl in a school toilet. Students and staff will not be forced to undergo the testing. However, a refusal could designate one as a potential suspect and could be detained.
