Archbishop Fulton Sheen on the False Prophet & the Antichrist.
On the book Communism and the Consciousness of the West by Bishop Fulton Sheen he wrote this in the 1940’s.
He will tempt Christians with the same three temptations with which he tempted Christ. The temptation to turn stones into bread as an earthly Messiahs will become the temptation to sell freedom for security, making bread a political weapon which only those who think his way may eat. The temptation to work a miracle by recklessly throwing himself from a steeple will become a plea to desert the lofty pinnacles of truth where faith and reason reign, for those lower depths where the masses live on slogans and propaganda. He wants no proclamation of immutable principles from the lofty heights of a steeple, but mass organization through propaganda where only a common man directs the idiosyncrasies of common man. Opinions not truths, commentators not teachers, Gallup polls not principles, nature not grace – to these golden calves will men toss themselves from their Christ. The third temptation in which Satan asked Christ to adore him and all the kingdoms of the world would be His, will become the temptation to have a new religion without a Cross, a liturgy without a world to come, a religion to destroy a religion, or a politics which is a religion – one that renders unto Caesar even the things that are God’s.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen said in 1950: “We are living in the days of the Apocalypse–the last days of our era…. The two great forces of the Mystical Body of Christ and the Mystical Body of Antichrist are beginning to draw up the battle lines for the catastrophic contest.” (Flynn T & L. The Thunder of Justice. He also said: “The False Prophet will have a religion without a cross. A religion without a world to come. A religion to destroy religions. There will be a counterfeit church. Christ’s Church [the Catholic Church] will be one. And the False Prophet will create the other. The false church will be worldly ecumenical, and global. It will be a loose federation of churches. And religions forming some type of global association. A world parliament of churches. It will be emptied of all divine content and will be the mystical body of the Antichrist. The mystical body on earth today will have its Judas Iscariot and he will be the false prophet. Satan will recruit him from among our bishops.”
Archbishop Fulton Sheen on Antichrist:
“The Antichrist will not be so called; otherwise he would have no followers. He will not wear red tights, nor vomit sulphur, nor carry a trident nor wave an arrowed tail as Mephistopheles in Faust. This masquerade has helped the Devil convince men that he does not exist. When no man recognizes, the more power he exercises. God has defined Himsel as "I am Who am," and the Devil as "I am who am not."
Nowhere in Sacred Scripture do we find warrant for the popular myth of the Devil as a buffoon who is dressed like the first "red." Rather is he described as an angel fallen from heaven, as "the Prince of this world," whose business it is to tell us that there is no other world. His logic is simple: if there is no heaven there is no hell; if there is no hell, then there is no sin; if there is no sin, then there is no judge, and if there is no judgment then evil is good and good is evil. But above all these descriptions, Our Lord tells us that he will be so much like Himself that he would deceive even the elect--and certainly no devil ever seen in picture books could deceive even the elect. How will he come in this new age to win followers to his religion?
The pre-Communist Russian belief is that he will come disguised as the Great Humanitarian; he will talk peace, prosperity and plenty not as means to lead us to God, but as ends in themselves. . . .

En su libro titulado El comunismo y la conciencia de Occidente , Fulton John Sheen advirtió que , " El Anticristo no será llamado así ; de lo contrario, no tendría seguidores Él no va a usar medias rojas , ni vomitar azufre , ni a llevar un tridente ni agitar una cola con forma de flecha como Mefistófeles en el Fausto . Esta mascarada ha ayudado a convencer a los hombres que él diablo no existe. Cuando nadie lo reconoce , más poder que ejerce. Dios se ha definido a si mismo como "Yo soy el que soy ", y el diablo como "yo soy el que no soy."
En ninguna parte de la Sagrada Escritura hallamos justificado el mito popular de que el Diablo es un bufón que se viste principalmente de "rojo". Más bien se le describe como un ángel caído del cielo, como "el príncipe de este mundo", cuya misión es que nos diga que no hay otro mundo . Su lógica es simple: si no hay cielo no hay infierno , y si no hay infierno , entonces no hay pecado , y si no hay pecado , entonces no hay ningún juez, y si no hay juicio entonces el mal es bueno y lo bueno es malo. Pero por encima de todas estas descripciones , Nuestro Señor nos dice que va a ser tan parecido a sí mismo que engañaría aun a los escogidos - y ciertamente ninguna imagen del diablo visto en libros jamás podría engañar aun a los escogidos . ¿Entonces cómo va a entrar en esta nueva era para ganar adeptos a su religión?
La creencia de Rusia pre - comunista es que él vendrá disfrazado como un Gran Humanitario; él hablará de paz , de prosperidad y de abundancia no como medios para llevarnos a Dios, sino como fines en sí mismos. . . .
. . . La tercera tentación en la cual Satanás tentó a Cristo para adorarlo y que todos los reinos de la tierra serían suyos, se convertirá en la tentación de tener una nueva religión sin una cruz , una liturgia sin un mundo por venir, una religión para destruir la religión, o una política que es una religión - una que da al César incluso las cosas que son de Dios.

Debido a que su religión será la hermandad sin la paternidad de Dios, va a engañar aun a los escogidos . Él creará un anti-iglesia que será el mono de la Iglesia, porque él, el diablo, es el mono de Dios. Contará con todas las notas y características de la Iglesia , pero a la inversa y vaciado de su contenido divino. Será un cuerpo místico del Anticristo que en todas las cosas externas se parecerá al cuerpo místico de Cristo. . . .

Pero el siglo XX se unirá a la falsa iglesia porque afirmará ser infalible cuando su cabeza visible hablará ex cathedra de Moscú sobre el tema de la economía y la política, y como pastor principal del comunismo mundial.
